Jonah's Friends

Jonah got a new kitty for Christmas. We all miss Friday, our black cat. She got out one night and didn't come home in the morning. We all knew what probably happened to her, but we put up posters anyway to appease Jonah. Granny felt bad for him, and spent a great deal of time calling and visiting pet rescues to find just the right friend for Jonah. "Cutie Dandelion" was a perfect match, although the big boys in the house convinced Jonah to shorten the name to just Cutie. He is very friendly and playful. The only problem is, he hates dogs. Poor Lucy keeps coming inside, and gets all excited when she spies the cat. Friday and Lucy were great friends and would even sleep together. But Cutie hisses like crazy every time he sees the dogs, even through the window. Hopefully they become a little more tolerant of each other with time.
This horse's name is Snuffy. Jonah has been riding him over at Jodi's house across the street. Jonah was a little frightened at first of going fast. He loves trail rides, and enjoys going out in the beautiful desert near our house. But before mounting he always checked with the other riders to make sure there would be no trotting. One day Jodi convinced Jonah to try out trotting, and she even ran alongside him and Snuffy to help him relax. (it shows what an incredible teacher Jodi is, because she hates running) A few minutes later I heard Jonah exclaiming, "faster, faster"! I think I liked it when he was scared, because now he won't slow down!

Halloween

Ok, so it's a little late. But I loved the boy's costumes this last year, so I still wanted to post my pictures.
We spent a lot of time online researching costumes to make. After finally choosing, we were shopping at JoAnns for supplies when the boys found these masks. At our Cub Scout Pack Meeting the week of Halloween Noah and Sam would not stop slapstick fighting. It was so funny and so annoying at the same time. They were really proud of their costume choices.

On Halloween we went trick-or-treating with a group of friends, and a couple of kids kept teasing Noah/Obama. He finally went home early because he was upset about being pushed. I guess it was a small glimpse of how passionate voters were this election season.

Superbowl Party!

Well, the Cardinals lost. But the game was super fun to watch, especially the fourth quarter. Ok I should be honest and confess I didn't even watch the game until half time commercials. We had some great food and fun friends over. I enjoyed playing games the first half! Thanks for coming guys!

Science Fair!

Sam chose to focus on "How tornadoes form" for his science project this year. I think it was mostly to view all the photos and video online of the destruction tornadoes cause. It is always fun to work with Sam, he makes me laugh. Notice in the picture he included a guy and a few animals to swirl around in his tornado bottle. Boy heaven.

Jonah's new teeth

Jonah has lost 4 teeth in the last month. His speech has been even more difficult to understand lately without any teeth in the front of his mouth! But he looks pretty darn cute, and he is certainly enjoying having the spending money the tooth fairy leaves for him.

Noah and Mac

Noah has wanted a little dog of his own for a very long time. After much searching of different dog rescues around the valley, he decided to adopt "Mac", a Minpin, Corgie, Chiuaua mix. Definitely a mutt! But Noah is thrilled, and he has been very responsible being the sole caretaker of his new friend. Lucy is also ecstatic to have someone to play with all day long.

Polar Bear Swim

The boys all wanted to jump in the pool at Midnight on New Year's Eve. We posed for this picture in the afternoon, and everyone quickly changed their minds. The water is freezing! Nate paddled around a bit, so he might have jumped in with a partner. It would not have been his mother!
It will be nice to be able to swim again in a couple of months. We miss our pool!
